Happy Thanksgiving

This last Thursday we had the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with Stephen's family. It was really awesome to sit around the table with family and go through the things that we are all thankful for this year. Because of the awesome experiences that I've had over the last year, I would just like to list a few things that I am SO thankful for this year.

1. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has given me the opportunity to be a mom. I love Maycee so much and it has given me a whole new perspective on life.

2. I am very grateful that my husband has a job and that we can pay our bills. Because of that I am able to be a stay at home mom.

3. I am especially grateful for Stephen. I love him SO much. We have made a beautiful life together with the kindness of our Father in Heaven.

4. I am grateful for the gospel. It makes my life happy. Because of the Plan of Salvation I will be able to be with my family forever.

Another quote from Stephen

"Wouldn't it be funny if moms fed babies with regular milk and daddys fed them with chocolate milk?"

Ruining Christmas

I have a secret hiding spot.

I have a secret place where I stash all of Stephen's presents for his birthday, Christmas, or any other holiday that I wish to buy him a gift for.

Stephen doesn't like that I have a secret stash spot.

Every time I have something hidden, I tell him, just to get him riled up. I think it's funny.

This is the conversation that we had last night about the stash.

Stephen: "Do you know what you are getting me for Christmas this year?"

Me: "...Yes...I've already bought most of your presents."

Stephen: "You know. I really like surprises. BUT you are forcing me to look for my presents because I really want to know where your hiding spot is. You are ruining Christmas."

Me: "Go ahead. Look. You'll never find it."

He hates that I am so cocky about it. It's true. He never will find it.

Trick #2

My dad was so excited when he saw that Maycee was able to stand up on her own. He was finally able to perform the trick that he has been looking forward to since she was born. Here is the picture proof.
Aren't her smiles contagious?
Here are the worn out circus performers.

Wow.

That's all I have to say.

Trick #1

Last Wednesday Maycee learned her first trick. She is now able to hold up her head and chest while she is on her tummy! The first time I saw her hold her head up I was so excited.

I cheered her on.

That made Maycee all the more excited about her trick.

I love this little girl!

So...

I got my first hickey yesterday.

From Maycee.

She loves to suck on things. Especially skin. When she was going to town on my arm I didn't think anything of it until her mouth let loose and I had a giant blood rush to the skin.

Something I didn't think I would face as a mother.

Bath Time

Last night I gave Maycee a bath.

I filled the tub and stuck her in.

She pooed.

I lifted her out of the tub, drained the water, filled the tub back up, and laid her down again.

She peed.

I lifted her out of the tub, drained the water, filled the tub back up, and laid her down again.

THIS time she got her bath.

Good thing she didn't spit up.

Poor Maycee

This morning I awoke to Maycee's cries at 6:30am. Her cries were soft which normally indicates that she will go back to sleep. After a minute, I went to check on her.

As I walked towards Maycee's room, her cry sounded muffled. I immediately began to panic and quickened my pace. I turned on the lamp as I entered her room and walked to her crib. Maycee's blanket was all the way over her head and her little legs were kicking wildly out of the bottom of her blanket.

I pulled the blanket off of Maycee and she was a little anxious.

This little girl moves too much in her sleep.

Bottles

Maycee tried her first bottle today.

She hated it.

BUT we kept trying.

Every time Stephen would put the bottle in her mouth, she would begin to suck on it, but then wail. I think she realized the little bits of milk that poured into her mouth from the bottle made her realize how much more hungry she was and then wailed all the more.

Stephen gave up and handed Maycee and the bottle to me.

I tried to give Maycee the bottle and she wailed harder. She could smell that I was the one who was supposed to be feeding her the right way. I gave in for a minute and nursed her for about 30 seconds. After she calmed down and was eating I began to explain to her that Mom and Dad needed her to take a bottle so when we had to be away from her for more than four hours she could still get food.

I stopped nursing her and gave her the bottle. She started to resist, but then began to drink. She drank half of the bottle and I gave her to Stephen to finish feeding. Watching Stephen feed Maycee was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. I didn't realized how much Stephen missed out on by not feeding Maycee. You could see that he really enjoying seeing that side of her.

Stephen is an amazing dad.

I am the luckiest woman ever.

Good job Maycee.

Halloween Stash

Maycee looks very stoic. In my mind she is holding very still so Daddy's starburst doesn't fall off of her head...
Here's Maycee with her "goods" from Halloween. She is getting really good at holding things in her hands. She clung to those pieces of candy pretty well. We had to pry them from her little fingers. Hopefully this is not a foreshadowing of things to come.

Beth

On Sunday we went to church with Brandon and Mitzi.

During the Sacrament Beth, my four year old niece, walked over to us and whispered, "What are you guys doing?"

I replied, "Watching Maycee sleep."

Beth, "You're supposed to be thinking of Jesus."

...

Beth then walked back to her seat.

Thank you for the reminder Beth!

I love little kids.

Happy Halloween!

For Halloween this year we went to visit Stephen's brother in Spanish Fork. Knowing that this was Maycee's first Halloween, I couldn't help myself...

Isn't she the cutest little bee you have ever seen?

Just a little plug for 'Other Mothers'...they had absolutely fabulous prices for little kid costumes.

We wanted to get a picture with the three of us and Stephen immediately says, "Lets take the picture in front of Brandon's batman case!" I didn't think it would work, but we tried.
Brandon also had to add that he couldn't get all of Maycee in the picture with me holding her.

So Stephen held her.

Bethy really wanted to get picture taken with the "Little Maycee Bee". We tried really hard to get both of them smiling.

All in all we had a lot of fun eating chili, carving pumpkins, eating blizzards, and everything else in between.
