Don't cry over spoiled milk.

Every night for dinner the question is always, "What do you want to drink?" The answers vary from "juice" to "water" to "milk". Last night was a milk night.

My dinner habits fit my personality. I am the slowest eater in the entire world. I never beat anyone finished. Stephen, however, thinks that dinner is a race. He thinks any meal is a race. This is one thing that Stephen always wins. He is always first to be finished with dinner.

As I slowly nibbled on my dinner Stephen was almost completely finished with his before I was even half done. As I started to sip my milk I realized what Stephen had not; the milk was bad. As I expressed my concern, Stephen looked at his glass. There was only a tiny little bit of milk covering the bottom of his glass. Good thing Stephen's stomach can swallow just as much as he can without any problems.

I saw the funniest bumper sticker.

You don't work "FULL TIME"
'til you're a MOM!

See what I have to look forward too.

YMCA

For our Family Home Evening activity yesturday, we went to the YMCA with Krystal and Shane to go swimming. At the YMCA they had this really cool slide that we would all fly down. Of course, being the competitve people that we are, we had to race. Now you had to guess who won .... Stephen?.... Kami?.... Shane?.... Krystal? If you guessed Krystal you are DEAD WRONG!!

Yep, Kami won...the cool one.

The following video is what happens to people who lose to Krystal. You can judge for yourself.

I Am Here

On November 4, 2008, I had a breakdown. I came home from work that day and walked in the door to see Stephen at the table doing his homework. I burst into tears. Stephen, not knowing what was wrong, rushed over to comfort me.

For months, maybe a year, previous to this date, I had done my homework. I had read up on all of the candidates that were running for president. I had been listening faithfully to my good friend, AM talk radio. I had read anything that I could get my hands on about the economy and made sure that I had a good idea about what was going on around me. I felt that I was ready. With my knowledge I felt sure that I could change the world. I felt like I was Superman...until November 4th. All of the things that I had learned were crashing on top of me. The two candidates that were left made me frightened for America's future. In a sense, I felt powerless to stop it.

After the election, I made a subconscious decision. I cut myself off from my knowledgeable sources. I didn't want that constant worry in the pit of my stomach. I stopped listening to my AM radio, I stopped searching on the Internet, and I stopped talking to people about it altogether. That is, until a few weeks ago...I started listening to my AM radio again.

My favorite host, Glenn Beck, was the first political base that I turned to. He just seems like a normal, real person to me. Last week he said something that I should have always known. He helped me remember to see the big picture.

Glenn told a story about a picture of Christ that he had been searching for for over a year and a half and had been unable to find. Everywhere he traveled he would ask about the picture. Through many little miracles, the picture ended up on his doorstep a little over a week before Christmas. When Glenn opened the picture and found out how it ended up in his possession he felt a reassurance that the Lord knew him and was aware of him. In a sense, he felt God say to him, "I am here."

Glenn continued by saying that recently he had seen another miracle. He spoke of the recent crash of the airplane in the Hudson River. Not only did everyone on the plane survive, the flight of that plane was so close to the chaos of 9-11. The Lord wanted to speak to us as Americans and say, "I AM HERE." No matter how bad things get, or how lost we may sometimes feel. We are not surviving this on our own.

I'm too young to die!

A few months ago, I happened to notice a little strand of hair that was NOT my natural, beautiful, dirt-brown color. I tried to ignore it. For a couple of weeks I ignored this little strand, but that dang little strand just happened to always be where my part was. Finally, frustrated, I pulled that little thing out.

Wednesday, I cut tubes for Stephen and then drove them to his work. He walked out of his office looking a little depressed. He told me about his frustration with customers.

We hauled the boxes of tubes out of my car and then Stephen opened my car door and helped me in. As I sat down in the drivers side seat, Stephen leaned down to give me our customary goodbye kiss and said, "KAMI, WHAT IS THAT?" staring at the side of my face.

I pulled down my mirror to see what Stephen was gawking at. There it was, another one of those strands that was not my natural, beautiful, dirt-brown color. I immediately pulled it from my head and Stephen slid it from my grip. His eyes and face lit up with excitement, "I have to show my co-workers!"

He raced back into his office with the little gray hair in hand.

I'm glad that I made his day better.

It has finally happened

I have been laid off. Everyone please say a prayer for Marv's Insulation! (My former workplace) They are struggling and need all the help they can get.

Now to happier things...MY HOUSE IS SPIC AND SPAN!!!! This is probably the only time in my life when my house will be this clean. Anyone who ever plans to come and visit me should do it now because I have a clean house. It will only stay this way until I get a new job, I'm sure. Right now you could probably eat off of the floors of my bathtubs. Seriously, it's that clean.

The Big O-N-E

Stephen and I have finally made it. We are one year old! This last year with my hubby has been so much fun.

I would just like to introduce you to the Stephen that I NOW know and love.

1.) Stephen LOVES cartoons. We watch cartoons together all of the time. Mostly we watch cool cartoons about superheros. Our current favorite is the Justice League. We watch those episodes quite frequently. Stephen always updates me on the different characters and things that are happening with them in new movies and stuff. His real obsession is Batman. I bought him some Batman pajamas for Christmas and he wears them all the time with his Superman t-shirt.

2.) Stephen has the biggest heart in the entire world. I don't know how I can really explain this to you, but he really cares for everyone. Not only is he always watching out for me and my concerns, but also those around him. And he surrounds himself with a lot of people.

3.) Stephen is very organized and clean. When you enter Stephen's cubicle at work you will see everything in its place and neatly labeled. If you enter Stephen's home space you will see the exact same thing. He always puts the toilet seat down when he is done. All of our movies are in a CD organizer in alphabetical order.

4.) Stephen LOVES kids. He tries to adopt any little kid that he sees and likes in our ward. Believe me, there are many! He always wants to hold the little babies and throw around the other ones. He always tells me that he wants a baby Kami.

5.) Stephen enjoys his calling. He works with the elders quorum president and his favorite part is making visits with other people in the ward. He always come home from those to tell me about the cool people that he met and how we should get to know them.

6.) Stephen is SEXY!!! Of course, I knew that before I married him, but I thought that I should just mention it.

Those are a few things that I have learned about the love of my life in the last year. I AM THE LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD!!!!

It's a Tree...

Stephen and I sometimes get a little distracted in Sacrament Meeting. We are very easily entertained by the kids around us. They are just so funny!

The little girl sitting next to us started to get out a notebook and crayons during the talks. She started with a clean sheet of paper and drew a big triangle at the top of her page.

I leaned over to Stephen and said, "She's going to draw a house."

She then drew two lines underneath the triangle, so as to hold the triangle up. I felt pretty smug because I knew I was right. All little girls draw houses.

Stephen leaned over and said, "No, she's drawing a mushroom."

The little girl drew two circles inside of the tippy top of her triangle. She then added a U shape underneath her circles. It looked like a smiley face.

Whispering to Stephen I said, "Maybe she's drawing a tree?"

She then drew two little antennas on both sides of the top of her triangle.

Stephen replied, "Ask her what it is."

I finally resorted to the easy way. I asked her what her drawing was.

The little girl looked at me and her look said, 'What? Can't you see what it is?' and she replied, "It's a talking cat."

Wow.

Plant Shelves

For those of you who have not been to my house, you must understand that I have a decorating problem. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT!!! I have been so excited to have my own house to decorate, but as I said before, I have problems.

When you first walk into our house there are two plant shelves that have been cut out of the top of our walls on both sides. Sorry, that is not a very good description. I'll post a picture.

To get to the heart of the problem. If any of you lovely people out there know what I can put up there to decorate, I would be a happy woman. There is just one thing...it can't cost me an arm and a leg. So, PLEASE, post me some beautiful ideas...or pictures if you can.

THANKS!!

The Radio Doesn't Help

I got in my car this morning ten minutes earlier than normal, so that I could get to work on time in this blizzardy condition.

Right when I was backing out of my garage the radio pipes in, "Today is not the day to be on the roads. If at all possible, you should stay home." The radio continued to list the numerous accidents on the roads that I would face.

Too bad I had to work today.

I was ten minutes late to work.
