Garage Sale Shopping is an Art

...that I cannot draw...or shop...or whatever.
I invited Kenna to go garage sale shopping with me last Saturday.
It turned out to be a dud.
I expected to find all of those cool "GARAGE SALE HERE" signs all over the streets that I normally see. I only saw one. An "ESTATE SALE".
Wow.
That was depressing.
Kenna and I decided that we were never going to one of those again. Bleh. Everyone was pushing there way all over the house and it just seemed relatively disrespectful. Again, bleh.
I'm going to get this thing figured out and become a master garage saler.
Here's to good luck.
Thanks to Kenna for being my guinea pig! You were fun to have on the go.

My Fridge is Clean!

I saw a new project and I wanted one.

A magnet board.

Seriously. Those things are so cool!

My sister in law had one in her house and I loved it! Kory gave me step by step directions on what to do and I was off.

Last Wednesday I went to my parents' house to get help from my dad. He has all of the cool tools.

This is the pallet that I took my boards from.

Here's my dad cutting my pieces for me!

Putting it together.

Just after I painted.

Put together with the sheet metal behind it.

Finally on my wall. Doesn't it look so cool! I have been SO excited to put this thing up. Stephen has now become a master at putting things up on our walls.

For the finishing touch...my fridge it now clean! It looks so weird now. I'm not used to seeing it so clean and non-cluttered. Wahoo!

Thanks Dad for helping me with another project. I told my dad that when I was done with him he was going to be a master frame maker. He's now made 5 for me...with one more in the thinking box...I love you Dad!

Week #3

This week our assignment was to take two self portraits. One with us in the picture and one that had a picture of things that described us. Here are the results:

Mother's Lounge Chit Chat

I never realized how much of a party it was in the Mother's Lounge until I had Maycee. The mom's in there are SO funny and they talk about everything. No holding back in the Mother's Lounge. For those of you who don't know, the Mother's Lounge is a room at church designated for breast-feeding mothers. See...it even sounds fun.

This afternoon I was in there with two other women. Michelle and Debbie.

Michelle and Debbie were both commenting on how they could tell how heavy their children where just by looking at them. Both went on to express how difficult it was to remember the birthdays and weights of all of their children. Michelle has eight children. Debbie has seven children.

I have one. Count them, one.

For the life of me, I couldn't remember how much Maycee weighed when she was born.

As soon as Debbie finished feeding her little one, she bade us farewell.

I looked at Michelle and said, "I can't even remember how much Maycee weighed when she was born..."

Michelle said, "Wasn't she 6lbs 5 oz, or something like that?"

I responded,"....Uh yeah...It think you're right."

Michelle was in the hospital the same time I was, having her little one. They were three hours apart. Apparently Michelle now remembers nine children's birth weight.

NCAA Basketball Tournament

Stephen loves basketball. That might even be an understatement, but I don't know how much more clearly I can paint this picture for you.

This year, to show Stephen I love him, I filled out a bracket.

Both of our brackets are hanging on the fridge.

It actually makes this basketball tournament fun to watch. I cheer for my teams, Stephen cheers for his teams. Everybody wins, right?

So far, not that anyone is counting, but I am ahead.

Maybe I'll fill out a bracket again next year.

Miracles DO Happen!

Yesterday I found something that I thought was lost to me forever.

I've been searching for months.

Specifically six.

My car keys have been missing since last September.

Miraculously they ended up in my little fingers yesterday morning at 8:30am...completely by accident.

For future reference, the next time I lose my keys I will look in every pocket of every jacket I own. Even if it's a jacket I wear twice a year.

Bird House Stand...COMPLETED!!

Stephen and I have been working on this bird house stand since last October. It is finally finished! It looks great.

We started with an old pallet and pulled off the boards to make the stand. This is the pallet after we took apart the things that we needed.

And here it is all put together:

...And with the bird house!

...With Stephen...
...With Kami...
The finishing touches.

On the planter shelf. I've decided that there is WAY too much greenery, so I'm taking it off of the bike. Then I've got to find something to put in the baskets.

Slowly but surely these planter shelves will get done.

Get in the Zone, AutoZone.

As I said in a previous post, we were down to one car for two weeks. We were able fix Stephen's car on Friday.

We were pretty sure that the problem was with the alternator. We talked to A LOT of people. Everyone said that having an alternator go out was typical and "not that big of a deal".

We called to get quotes on how much this "not that big of a deal" would cost us.

After several quotes from different repair shops we found out that this typical problem was going to cost us around $300-$400. Yeah. I was not very happy with those numbers. Who has $400 lying around that they can drop on a car repair? Let me rephrase that...Who has $400 lying around that they want to drop on a car repair?

My amazing Dad found me an alternator to purchase for $45.

Stephen's amazing co-worker, Tyler, offered to help him put it in.

All we had to do was get our alternator tested just to make sure that the alternator was really the problem.

On our way to Tyler's we stopped at an AutoZone to get the alternator tested. The woman that came out brought a battery tester. She didn't believe Stephen when he said that the alternator was the problem. She said the battery was bad.

OF COURSE THE BATTERY WILL READ BAD! THE CAR IS RUNNING STRAIGHT OFF OF THE BATTERY RATHER THAN HAVING THE ALTERNATOR CHARGE IT!

The AutoZone lady then had us hook up my car to Stephen's to charge his battery and get it started. The lady left the jumper cables on for a total of three seconds and told me not to turn on my car. She said that if I turned on my car with Stephen's car on, MY car would get whatever problems Stephen's car had.

Wow.

Stephen was going to strangle that lady for being stupid.

As soon as she left, Stephen commented on her poor knowledge of vehicles. "It's not like cars have STD's!"

Without the help of our local AutoZone technician, Stephen's car is now fixed and running beautifully.

Text Between Sisters

Sister 1: You want to write a scholarship essay for me?

Sister 2: Nope

Sister 1: Punk

Sister 2: You are correct.

Sister 1: What if I send you a really crappy paper, will you edit it and make me lots of money?

Sister 2: Yes, I will edit your paper.

Sister 1: Papers. There will be about six of them equipped with cover letters.

Sister 2: Holy crap! You said paper. As in singular!

Sister 1: Sorry. Ya I hate my life right now too.

Why Kami Shouldn't...

In my current calling I am required to conduct during Relief Society and during our Tuesday night meetings. I get nervous every time I get up in front of those women. Inevitably I always say something that I probably shouldn't.
Last night we had our Relief Society Birthday Dinner. That is my absolute favorite Relief Society Meeting. We always have SO much fun! Last night was no exception.

WE HAD A GARDEN PARTY!!

Dress Code: Dress, Hats, Pearls, Gloves.

I had two out of the three. Never got the gloves.

While conducting last night, Kami struck again. I said "rocking, awesome". Who says rocking, awesome while conducting a church event?! Seriously. I need to be stopped. Here are some of my favorite ladies of the night.
Linda Miller & Kami
This is Linda's gardening hat. She gussied it up with ribbon and flowers. She is so clever.
Jodi Hoopes & Kami
Jodi and I went shopping together for this event. We bought matching hats. Aren't we adorable?
Maycee & Mommy! Maycee didn't actually attend the event, but I got her dressed up anyway. Isn't she so cute with her hat and party dress?
I missed out on taking pictures with Kelli Wilkins. Her outfit was awesome. I cannot even describe how amazing she looked in her getup. I guess we'll just have to dress up again just to take a picture.
Thanks for the wonderful evening!

Karli and I are doing a photography class together. Every week we are submitting a photograph to one another for discussion.

Hopefully it will help us with our "eye".

Maycee Checkup

We went to the doctor today.

Maycee got shots.

This is the first time that I didn't cry! Wahoo! Maycee wasn't a big fan, however.

Here are the stats:

27 inches long -- 90th percentile

15.3 pounds -- 25th percentile

So last time wasn't a fluke. She really is tall.
