Ode to Ono

We have a really good family friend, Bruce Sweat, from American Falls that comes to Boise for training about two or three times a year. Every time that he comes we go to a really cool restaurant. The goal is to find a place that Bruce hasn't been too. THAT is the difficult part. Now comes the part of the "Ode".

My new favorite food is Hawaiian. Krystal introduced us to the coolest place, Ono Hawaiian Cafe. The atmosphere was amazing and our server was great! And the food was to die for!

We talked to our waitress for a while about the place. She said that she was from Hawaii and most of the people that worked there were also from Hawaii. She also said that they have dancers that come and do the Hula. The grass skirt, coconuts, and everything. I can't remember if she said they only do it in the summer or all the time, but it was SO good! I recommend all to go to the Ono Hawaiian Cafe on Broadway in downtown Boise. You will not regret it...I promise!

Look At Our Beautiful Shelves!

My Dad...uummmm...is a work-a-holic. He really should go to one of those "anonymous" classes. This is how it would go:

Dad standing in front of group, "Hi, my name is Richard."

Group, "Hi Richard."

Dad, "And I'm a work-a-holic."

I'm serious! The only way that I can ever get my Dad to come and visit me is if I have a project for him. The last time he came to see me, my living room light was broken and he came to fix it. That was AT LEAST four months ago. His most recent appearance in Boise was when I needed his brain and his table saw...

Stephen and I decided that we really needed to build some shelves in our garage for storage. We had talked to some people about how to build them and began to formulate a plan. This is where the work-a-holic comes in. Stephen and Dad's magic began on Friday afternoon at Home Depot....and shortly after commenced in our garage.

This is the beginning of our amazing storage system. Just in case you can't really tell, there are small boards screwed to the wall to begin our support system for our shelves.

I really didn't get any in between shots because I wasn't really home. Mom, Krystal, Karli, and I were out shopping. Honestly, the guys didn't even miss us.
Here is our finished product. I am SO proud of Stephen! Didn't he do SUCH a great job? Everytime I go out to the garage now, I admire our pretty little shelves.
Thanks for coming to help us Dad!!! You are awesome! We couldn't have done it without you!

I know my honey loves me because...

When I was growing up, my family had a tradition on Valentine's Day. My Mom would make us waffles with cherries and whip cream and have little gifts for us on our plates. Sometimes we would get crayons, or a jump rope, or hair things, just random things. It was always fun to get up on Valentine's Day.

Well, I have tried to keep the same kind of traditions. We still get up and make waffles, but this year there was a catch. Valentine's Day was on a Sunday. We have church at 8:20am. We got up at 6:00am to make pink waffles with butter syrup. I love my hub!

The alarm started going off at 5:30. (Stephen wanted a half an hour to wake up) At 6, I rolled out of bed. Stephen turned on the light asked me to sit on the bed with him for a minute. He pulled out a package from under his side of the bed. As I unwrapped my gift Stephen said, "These are things we can do together!" Now most people will not understand how perfect these gifts are unless you know me really well. Stephen got me two books: Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief and the second book to Fablehaven. On top of the two books were a box full of Sponge Bob Squarepants chocolates. I love my honey!

After Stephen gave me my gift, I ran to get his out of one of my hiding spots. I got him new basketball shorts and a package of Oreos. No one can say love like Oreo. Happy Valentine's Day!

Run your heart out!

Stephen is running a marathon.

He really is!

He will be running in the Ogden Marathon on May 15, 2010. Training began at the dawn of the New Year and has been going strong ever since.

There is really only one negative to this new goal of Stephen's. THE LAUNDRY IS DISGUSTING!!! We are going to come up with a new strategy for used up running clothes. Every time I do the laundry, the entire batch in saturated with sweat...bleah! Those things could probably get up and run on their own...BUT he is so gung ho and I am very proud of him.

Anyone that would like to join us and cheer him on, just let me know. We will find a place for you...and a cheesy sign to hold.

Last Saturday Stephen had to run seven miles. He asked if I would go with him...on my bike. It had been six months since my last bike ride. We ended up running/riding eight miles. My bum was on fire!!!! As soon as I got off of my bike I walked around the house like I'd just gotten off of a horse. I looked ridiculous. For the next three days anytime I would sit down I would groan and say, "OH BUTT!" My poor little bottom. Don't worry guys, I am good now. Stephen asked if I'll come with him next Saturday....

Goodbye

Last week I started to "show". Only, no one else could see it. Every time I would ask Stephen if he could tell if I was fat, he would tell me I was crazy. Last Friday I ran into the kitchen wearing my jeans. I had a beautiful little muffin top with my belly hanging over. If Stephen couldn't tell now, he's crazy.

When Stephen saw me, I said, "See! I'm fat! Can you tell?"

Stephen proceeds to grab my love handles and says, "Oohh! These are new!"

Yes, very new.

Honestly, I don't really mind getting big. It is really kind of cool watching my body change. I am kind of excited. So...here we go. Goodbye skinny Kami! Hopefully I'll see you in another six to eight months.

Living the Life of the Ritz

Life after Christmas is boring. I mean, seriously! You get all worked up and excited for one day and then it is gone! To make up for the lack of excitement between Christmas and spring, Stephen and I, with Morgan and Jess have decided that in the beginning of February we are going to go somewhere fun. Last year was the haunter motel, this year was another motel...except better.

Last Friday we packed up and headed for Tamarack. For those of you who do not know, Tamarack is a ski resort that went bankrupt. When we saw the listing on the Internet, we weren't even sure it it was open. After a phone call, we had a reservation for a great motel room for dirt cheap. We were SO excited! These are the pictures online of the room. Let me tell you...the room was even better than the pictures.

We got to Donnelly at about 7pm that night. As soon as I saw our room, I decided that we were never going back to the "regular" motel room. I felt so "posh"! The weird thing about the hotel was that WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE!!! When I say that, I really mean it. There were NO workers and there were NO other hotel residents! It was so weird, and some might say a little creepy, but I thought it was awesome. We wandered around anywhere that unlocked doors allowed. It was so odd that this extremely nice hotel was empty! All of the surroundings of the hotel were also vacant.

Here we are bumming around our room.

Stephen and Morgan went exploring on there own, while Jess and I chatted in our exclusive surroundings. (Obviously, because no one else was there!)

On day two we drove in to McCall to check out the snow sculptures and go tubing. I love this first snow sculpture. I don't know why, but I think that it looks cool!

Just in case you couldn't tell, this is a bathroom. Morgan is making his debut.

This is our one man band that we found. He really wasn't that great, but he just looked so ridiculous that we couldn't resist taking a picture. He has little bird wings on his back...

Here is our adventure in tubing. It was obscenely expensive, but a lot of fun. Aren't Stephen and I SO cute! He is hot!

Morgan and Jess!

The following is our waiting line, however, there was a good reason for this wait. See next two pictures...

A TUBE LIFT!!! Wow, that made the seriously expensive price tag worth it. I LOVE tube lifts. As I was standing in the line to go up the tube lift, I had a little freak out. I'm not a very brave person. The last time I did something remotely dangerous was definitely before Stephen and I got married. I made it on the tube and had fun. I'm such a chicken.
The tube in the second track is Stephen, Morgan, and Jess. Watching that one, I was really glad that I didn't go. That one looked like it hurt.
Here is a close up.

These are some really cool pictures that Stephen took looking off of the balcony of our hotel room. Aren't they awesome?!
THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE! Stephen took this awesome picture. I love it! Yeah!

All in all we had a really fun weekend! It was my first time in McCall and it was a blast. Party!

Breaking the Silence

Over the last few months there has been one thing on my mind. Seriously, just one. Normally, my blog would be the place that I would go to and let those thoughts spew. I wasn't quite ready for that, so I just sat, watching my poor little blog get further, and further, and further behind. Well, my little blog readers! Today is the day that my blog is no longer left in the shadows. It is time to come out and tell the world what is on my brain! Watch out world...soon there will be a new little addition coming to the home of the Posts! I know, it is a little hard to think of a mixture of Stephen and Kami. I'm sure it will be quite an interesting adventure. Coming in August of 2010...Baby Post.
