Favorite Things About Being A Mom

1. Every morning when Maycee wakes up, she is SO excited to see me! She kicks her legs, gives me a huge smile, and she coos.

2. When Maycee is really tired, but can't fall asleep, I pick her up and lay her on my shoulder. She whimpers for a few minutes and then goes limp from utter exhaustion. Then we cuddle...

3. After pulling her off of my shoulder and there is a huge spot of drool on my shirt.

4. BATH TIME!! Maycee loves the bathtub. As I lower her into the water and her fist and feet hit first, she recoils at the new sensation. As soon as she realizes where she is at, she kicks and flails her arms tirelessly. Her eyes are squinting the entire time because she splashes water in her face, but that doesn't stop the splashing.

5. Conversations with Maycee. She listens to me talk to her for a little while, but then she tells a very long story with a lot of smiles.

6. During her fussy periods, when she is being held by someone other than Mom or Dad, she is given back to me to calm.

7. Kissing her neck when she coos and tries to scrunch her neck.

8. Singing to Maycee and she doesn't care what it sounds like.

9. Rocking Maycee to sleep.

10. BEING A MOM! I really didn't think I would feel this way about this new job that I have.

Farmer Maycee

Last Wednesday I got to go to the farm with Maycee. We had to get some use out of those cute overalls!

We got to ride in the truck with Grandma.

Maycee slept ALL day. Surprisingly she even slept really well that night too!

Thanks Mom and Dad for the potatoes and tomatoes and the rickety old pallet...I am so excited.

We even got to see Grandpa in his fancy, smancy glasses.

Yeah for beet harvest!

Aunt Krystal is a goober.

Krystal was trying SO hard to get a picture of the two of them sticking out their tongues. We didn't think it would be that hard because Maycee ALWAYS has her tongue out. It is her favorite play toy. This is what we got.

I think it's hilarious.

Oh!

While setting up the church for a Relief Society activity, I asked a couple of kids to "watch" Maycee in her car seat. The little five-year-old girl and three-year-old boy were enthralled by Maycee.

Walking out of the gym I looked over to see what the kids were doing. I said to the five-year-old, "Maycee is very entertained by you!"

Little girl, "Huh? What does that mean?"

Me, "Uh, she is content with you. Do you know what that means?"

Little girls shakes head in the negative.

Me, "...She is enjoying you. Do you know what that means?"

Little girl, "Ohhhh, she likes me!"

Me, "Yes, she likes you."

Well, duh. I really have to get used talking to kids.

My little doll

It is so much fun having a person that I can dress up and that loves me to be around. She's the best doll money can buy.

Bbbrrrr

Friday morning I awoke at 7:30 to Maycee wailing for food. I was running on 6 hours of sleep at that point...and had a headache, painful sinuses, and a sore throat.

After feeding her I laid her in the bouncer next to the couch, while I laid down for a "nap". Maycee again fell asleep, but began wailing again at 9:00. Ugh.

I said, "Maycee! I just fed you an hour and a half ago! There is no way you are hungry again."

As I got up to get her out of the bouncer, I noticed that it was a little chilly. I put her on my shoulder and immediately she quieted. I laid back down on the couch and placed her on my chest and put my blanket over her. She buried her face in my chest and slowly began moving to get in the crook between the couch and my body.

Like mother, like daughter. She was cold.

Favorite status EVER

I almost NEVER get on facebook.

BUT I needed information only available on said website.

Karli's status as of 8 hours ago said...and I quote,

"Bahahahahahaha, my dad has glasses!"

This made me giggle.

The Worst Day Ever!

Poor little miss Maycee had to get her two month shots yesterday. It was very traumatic. According to one of my friends in the ward, more traumatic for me than for Maycee.

Stephen so graciously got off work early to go to the doctor's office with me. The last time that we were at the doctor's office we were frazzled, stressed, and in definite need of great amounts of sleep. That was twelve days after her birth. It seems like eons ago.

I am so glad that we chose the doctor that we did. Everyone at the office is so nice and always gives us TONS of compliments on how cute of a little girl that we have. We agree.

ANYWAY...the nurse took us back to the room of torture. On our way she showed off little Maycee's flower headband to everyone who passed us. She was so cute!

In our room, the doctor came to give Maycee her checkup. She is getting SO big! She is now 10lbs 15.5oz and 22.5in long.

The doctor left and in came the nurse. We laid her on the little bed and I held her legs while Stephen held her arms. The nurse gave her one shot in the leg and the instant the shot penetrated her skin Maycee got this look of pain in her face. Two seconds later she began to sob. I have never heard her cry like that! I immediately told Stephen that he had to hold her legs for the next one and I would hold her arms.

Maycee continued to sob through the next shot. As soon as it was finished I picked her up off the table to consol her...I started to cry. I've never heard her cry like that! I couldn't get her to stop crying either! That made me cry even more. I continued my silent tears for the next hour...even though Maycee had stopped. This is only the beginning...
