Green Smoothies

We are totally getting into the green smoothie fad.  Maycee loves them.  Cooper won't touch them.  I think the thick green color/texture throws him off.

Last week we made a smoothie for breakfast.  I told the kids what we were having and I got them all pumped for the smoothie.  Cooper was even jumping up and down, running around the island, yelling "Moomee, moomee!"

When I finished making the smoothies, I filled up a big glass for Maycee and me and then put a little dribble in a cup for Cooper.  Maycee immeditely began to drink hers, "Mmmmm, yummy smoothie," she would say.

Cooper repeated Maycee's love for the smoothie, "Yummy moomee!"

Until he actually tried it.

He turned his drink upside down and dumped the rest of the contents on to the kitchen table.  "Moomee yucky!" He said.

I guess not everyone is hooked.

Proud Mama

Maycee gave her first talk in Primary on Sunday.  I got an e-mail forwarded from Stephen on Tuesday saying that I hadn't been getting the primary newsletter and Maycee was supposed to give a talk on Sunday.

I thought, 'I need to start her on that now so that she won't be nervous on Sunday.'

And then it fled my brain until Saturday morning.  I'm such an awesome mom.

Maycee's talk was on obeying your parents.

This was Stephen's clever idea.

Maycee held up a picture of our family and said, "This is my family!  This is my daddy, this is my mommy, this is Cooper, this is me, and this is Oliver.  When I obey my parents, I feel happy.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

We had her practice about 6 times on Saturday.  Then we had her practice 3 times before Primary.  We had her pretend pulpit that she would stand on and then give her talk.

When it came time for Primary, I walked Maycee to her class and sat in the very back so that I could see her.  I kept waving to her as she sat in front on the chair labeled 'talk.'  She would smile every time I waved and then would wave back.  So cute.

I had given the family picture to Krystal, who is the primary chorister, so I wouldn't have to get up with her.

Maycee was announced and she walked right up to the pulpit, given her picture, stood right next to the Primary 1st Counselor, and said her talk in a loud and clear voice.  SHE DID SOOOO GOOD!!  I'm pretty sure that I was beaming from the back of the room.

That was one of the best feelings ever.

Easter Sunday!

Holy Hannah!!

All I wanted was a family picture!  My kiddos looked so stinkin' cute!!  It was not meant to be.  I got up super early on Sunday morning so no one would be rushed and we would still have time for a picture.  8:30am church will do crazy things to you.  Well, we still didn't get the before picture.  So I had to try after.  This is what I got.

I know.  Serious!?

Cooper was not participating.

I think this is probably the best one I've got.

Everything always ends in tears...except I totally wasn't even done yet.

I don't know, but I think this one was a lucky strike.

The sucker calmed him.

Oliver was my good one.  Too bad my good camera's battery was dead.  I was charging it.

Joke's on you.

So.

I don't know if I have mentioned this or not, but Stephen is a little bit obsessed with Batman.  Yesterday, Stephen taught Maycee how to draw Batman.  He taught her in the simplest form possible. She draws a face with eyes and a mouth and then adds pointy ears her creation.

Voila!  (I've been reading a lot of Fancy Nancy.)

You have Batman.

Today, Maycee added something new to her Batman.

"Mommy, look!  I gave Batman lipstick!"

Well, Stephen.  The joke is now on you.

On a scale of 1 to 10

I love new recipes.  Throughout our marriage, I have scoured cook books and the internet for new foods that we can try.  At this current stage in our life, I make at least one new meal a week.  I get bored easily.

Every time that I make a new recipe and we have given it a try, I say, "On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being amazing and 1 being disgusting, where does this meal fall?"

Frequently I get "6.5".  What!?  But then Stephen says that he likes it!  What am I supposed to do with that?

Today I told Stephen that I was going to make deviled eggs.  "Do you like my deviled eggs?"  I asked.

"Yeah, I like them." He said.

"On a scale of 1 to 10 where would you rate them?"

"8."

"What?!" I yelled.

"I have told you before," Stephen said, "I am really bad at that thing.  You need to come up with a new scale.  Like, 1 is crap,  2 is indifferent, and 3 is 'I like it'."

Easter Festivities...on Saturday

Saturday was pretty crazy.  But it was a ton of fun!  I love hanging out with my family.  Saturday morning was our traditional egg dying.  I love Cooper's ears.

Maycee is getting super excited to go out and find some eggs.

This picture cracks me up.  She was too excited to go get the next egg to even look at the camera for longer than a second.

Rather than eat their lunch, they played with their toys.  We got Maycee Frozen, pj's, and another My Little Pony to add to her collection.  Cooper was totally happy with his 3 Hot Wheels vehicles and pj's.  This time we got him a Hot Wheels truck, motorcycle, and little red car.

On Saturday night we went to a friends' house, who put on a egg hunt and dessert party.  There were six families with...a ton of kids.  I don't even know how many.  Anyway, they ended up hiding almost 300 eggs.  Crazy.  But we had a good time.  Any excuse to get together and have a party!

Super Cute

BEST Easter Party Ever!

I love throwing parties.  Having Maycee in preschool gives me an extra outlet to do these kinds of things.  Today I was in charge of the Easter party.

Seriously.

Love it!

We started our party with fun pictures with Mom!  I asked Krystal to come over and help me with the lighting first.  These are really funny.  Thanks Krys!

I am SO sad that this one is blurry!

Now here is the real Mom's and kiddos.

After pictures we played "Don't Eat the PEEP!"  I used to play "Don't Eat Pete" all the time in family home evening when I was a kid.  It was really fun to watch the kids get into it.  I played the first round.  The kids didn't understand the concept and yelled "DON'T EAT THE PEEP" after every Skittle that I grabbed.  After my first round they definitely got it.

After 'Don't Eat the Peep' we made bunny ears!  So that we could be bunnies!

After making bunny ears I had the kiddos hide an egg for their moms.  It was really cute.

Three of the girls hid their eggs together.

After the mommy egg hunt, the kiddos finally got to do their own hunting.  I was SO proud of myself and my amazing idea.  I have six 3 & 4 year-olds in preschool.  Plus three of their siblings that would also be participating.  SO, I wrote their names on all of the eggs and they had to find their own eggs with their own name.  It took a lot longer to do the egg hunt, which was awesome!

Maycee and Cooper followed me around the back yard and we would look for eggs together.  I would ask Maycee if the eggs had her name on it or Cooper's.  She knew both.  Smart girl!  Anytime she found a 'Cooper' egg, she would hand it to him and he'd put it in his basket.  I love my kids!!

Eating their spoil.  I was also not really wanting a ton of sugar, so each kid only had two eggs with candy.  The rest were full of stickers, balloons, playdoh, goldfish crackers, etc.

After the party, Maycee and Cooper posed for me with their baskets and ears.  It didn't take long for our bunny ears to turn in to flop eared bunnies.
